Trimmers
Trimmers Information
Trimmers diet-pill works by inducing thermogenesis (the production of heat), which speeds up your metabolism and burns calories, facilitating weight-loss. It also has an appetite-suppressing effect, so you feel less hungry and therefore eat less.
Since Trimmers are ephedrine-free, they don't have any of the side-effects that make ephedrine-based products problematic.
Thus, Trimmers works on two fronts:
- thermogenesis: 'speeding up' you metabolism, and making you burn more calories
- appetite suppression: making you eat less, and forcing the organism to mobilise the supplies it already posseses - ie. use up fat.
Trimmers Ingredients and Composition
How Does Trimmers Work?
Chitosan in Trimmers
Chitosan (used in Trimmers) and chitin are polysaccharide polymers containing more than 5,000 glucosamine and acetylglucosamine units, respectively, and their molecular weights are over one million Daltons. Chitin is found in fungi, arthropods and marine invertebrates. Commercially, chitin is derived from the exoskeletons of crustaceans (shrimp, crab and other shellfish). Chitosan is obtained from chitin by a deacetylation process.
Chitosan is, at the pH of the gastrointestinal tract, a positively charged polymer and can bind to negatively charged substances. It is believed that chitosan, similar to cholestryamine, has bile acid sequestration activity and that this may be the mechanism for its hypocholesterolemic effect. There is some evidence that chitosan binds to bile acids and some evidence that the polymer affects the metabolism of intestinal bile acids. However, in contrast to cholestyramine, chitosan does not have consistent hypocholesterolemic activity. There is also evidence that chitosan binds to fats in the intestine, blocking their absorption.
Caffeine (guarana) in Trimmers
As far as fat burning is concerned, the primary active Trimmers ingredient in guarana is caffeine. This plant chemical is rapidly absorbed by the body and remains in circulation for more than seven hours. Plasma concentrations reach a peak one hour after it is consumed. It is then slowly metabolized, with a half-life of four to six hours.
The caffeine source in Trimmers is guarana seed extract. Guarana is a bushy tree that grows in the Amazon rainforest. Known botanically as Paullina cupana, it is almost as popular as coffee in Brazil. Guarana does not have as much acid as coffee, so it can be less irritating to the stomach than coffee can. Guarana also has epicathechin and proanthocyanidins, both of which are powerful antioxidants that help reduce free-radical damage in cells. Epicathechin is chemically related to epigallocatechin gallate (EGCG), which prolongs the life of norepinephrine. As a result, the epicathechin may keep the thermogenic process going for a even longer period of time, further boosting your metabolic rate and facilitating fat loss.
Norepinephrine is a hormone secreted by the medulla of the adrenal glands, that acts as a neurotransmitter. The sympathetic nervous system functions in response to short-term stress; hence norepinephrine increases the heart rate as well as blood pressure. Other actions of norepinephrine include increased glycogenolysis (the conversion of glycogen to glucose) in the liver, increased lipolysis (the conversion of fats to fatty acids) in adipose (fat) tissue, and relaxation of bronchial smooth muscle to open up the air passages to the lungs. All of these actions represent a mobilization of the body's resources in order to meet the stressful challenge; such a response is often termed the 'flight or fight' syndrome.
Basically, the caffeine in Trimmers keeps your body in 'combat' mode for extended periods of time, facilitating weight loss.
Caffeine has been shown to dramatically increase free fatty-acid levels, providing the body with a fuel source that it can use instead of the glycogen stored in your liver and muscles. In fact, one study found a 100% increase in plasma free fatty acids after the subjects took 330 mg of caffeine - another reason why it is used in Trimmers.
At the same time, caffeine has been shown to increase adrenaline levels. This "fight-or-flight" hormone increases alertness and boosts energy levels, helping you to go through your daily tasks with less food intake. Most people experience a reduced appetite when their adrenaline levels are high, usually because they are focused on more essential tasks. With these two mechanisms, it's easy to understand why caffeine is an important ingredient in Trimmers for jump-starting your weight-loss efforts.
Chromium picolinate in Trimmers
Chromium is a mineral that helps insulin bind to its receptor sites. It is also involved in the metabolism of glucose for energy. A deficiency of chromium can lead to increased fat storage, fatigue, sugar cravings and mood swings, all of which are counterproductive to your weight-loss goals. The average Westerner does not get close to enough chromium, so supplementation is often required. Getting your chromium in a fat burner is as good as buying and consuming it separately.
The picolinate part of the molecule increases the bioavailability of the chromium compared to the pure metal. While there is a lot of propaganda about the supposed advantages of specific carrier molecules, no comparative research has ever been done. All of the commonly available forms of chromium supplements, including the chromium in Trimmers, are sufficiently bioavailable to eliminate any deficiency of this mineral that you may have.
Vitamin E in Trimmers
Vitamin E is a fat-soluble vitamin that exists in eight different forms. Each form has its own biological activity, the measure of potency or functional use in the body. Alpha-tocopherol is the most active form of vitamin E in humans, and is a powerful biological antioxidant. Antioxidants such as vitamin E act to protect your cells against the effects of free radicals, which are potentially damaging by-products of the body's metabolism. Free radicals can cause cell damage that may contribute to the development of cardiovascular disease and cancer - this is why vitamin E is used in Trimmers.
Magnesium Chelate in Trimmers
Magnesium is an essential mineral, playing a key role in over 300 enzymatic reactions in metabolism. It is involved in energy production & storage, the breakdown of fatty acids, protein synthesis, DNA metabolism, the relaxation of both voluntary and involuntary muscle tissue, neurotransmitter activity, and hormone regulation. Magnesium is stored primarily in the bones, and along with other minerals plays a role in the metabolism of bone.
Zinc Chelate in Trimmers
Zinc (used in Trimmers as Zinc Chelate) performs many functions in the body including the conversion of proteins into energy and works with calcium in the formation of bone. Zinc is believed to play an important role in blood stability, body alkaline balance, and the healing process.
Ginseng in Trimmers
Ginseng (Eleutherococcus senticosis) has a well-deserved reputation as an adaptogen. This means that it helps the body to deal with stress, including the stress caused by a diet and exercise program. Ginseng has been shown to reduce the secretion of cortisol in the adrenal glands. Cortisol is a catabolic hormone that can eat away at muscle tissue, so it is best to keep it under control. Ginseng in Trimmers also promotes the health of the adrenal gland while strengthening the immune system and helping the body fight inflammation. The quantity of ginseng in this formulation is not indicated.
Ginger Root in Trimmers
Ginger (Zingiber officinale) is indigenous to tropical Asia and is now cultivated in tropical areas throughout the world. The rhizome, which is technically an underground stem instead of a root, contains oleoresins that are rich in gingerols. These compounds have a variety of sedative effects. Ginger is traditionally used to calm the stomach and as a treatment for motion sickness. Since some individuals experience gastrointestinal upset with caffeine and other stimulatory chemicals, ginger should help to eliminate this occasional Trimmers side effect. Ginger does not have any fat-burning properties.
Lecithin in Trimmers
Contains Choline & Inositol which are essential for the breakdown of fats and cholesterol. It helps prevent arterial congestion, helps distribute bodyweight, increases immunity to virus infections, cleans the liver and purifies the kidneys.
Sasparilla Root in Trimmers
Introduced in the 19th-century from Mexico to the cowboys of the American Old West, as well as other parts of the USA, "sasparilla" was often consumed as a refreshing, non-alcoholic "beer" formed by mixing extracts of Sarsaparilla Root with soda water. (It was frequently mispronounced--and then misspelled--as "sasparilla.") Today the sweet, acrid flavour is commonly known as "root beer" in the USA since extracts of Sarsaparilla Root are often used to flavour soft drinks, ice cream, candy, and bakery products. It is also thought to have hormonal effects and may improve fertility in women with ovarian dysfunction. Sarsaparilla Root as used in Trimmers, is thought to reduce inflammation, control itching, improve digestion and elimination, and act as an antiseptic.
Nettle leaf in Trimmers
Nettle leaf is an herb that has a long tradition of use as an adjuvant remedy in the treatment of arthritis in Germany. Nettle leaf extract contains active compounds that reduce TNF-a and other inflammatory cytokines. Not only does nettle leaf lower TNF-a levels, but it has been demonstrated that it does so by potently inhibiting the genetic transcription factor that activates TNF-a and IL-1B in the synovial tissue that lines the joint.
Gota Kola Herb in Trimmers
Gota Kola is considered to be a nerve tonic that promotes relaxation and slowly builds mental stamina and neural health. Gota Kola has been used to help liver and gallbladder congestion.
Spirulina in Trimmers
Spirulina is one of the blue-green algaes (single-celled plants); it is named for its spiral shape. Algaes are incredibly old life forms, responsible for producing and sustaining our oxygenated atmosphere. They are the basis of the food chain and the primary source of food for the great baleen whales. Spirulina is not a salt-water algae; it grows in fresh and brackish inland waters.
Sida Cordifolia in Trimmers
Acts as a general stimulant on many parts of the body simultaneously (lungs, heart, blood vessels, adrenal glands, etc.). It is most often used as a central nervous system stimulant (for alertness or energy), as a decongestant (for asthma/breathing aid) as well as an appetite suppressant to help with weight loss.
Astragalus in Trimmers
Derived from the root of the perennial Astragalus membranaceus, Astragalus is native to China. Practitioners believed it to be a superior tonic for replenishing vital energy. It is of use as a preventative against recurring colds, flu, bronchitis and supporting recovery from long term viral infections. Astragalus boosts the immune system over long periods of time and is a powerful tool for immune system recovery.
Garlic in Trimmers
A member of the lily family the bulb is unknown in the wild and has evolved under cultivation during the past 5,000 years. For thousands of years garlic has been valued for its therapeutic potential. Egyptian pyramid builders used it for strength and endurance.
